- כְּרֵתִיm. (b. h.) gent. n. Krethi, Cherethi; (collect.) the body-guard of David; (homilet.) the Sanhedrin (or Urim and Tummim). Ber.4a, v. כָּרַת. Midr. Till. to Ps. 3:5. כְּרִיתָה; a. e.Pl. כְּרֵתִיִּים. Men.28b כמין תפוחי הכ׳ ed. (ed. Ven., a. oth., and Ar. הבִּרְתִּיִּים) the shape of the apples of the Krethiim (Cretans?); ib. 63a הכ׳ Ms. R. 2 (ed. הברתים), v. בִּירְתִית.
